Mrs. Rogers (342/365)
Mrs. Rogers (circa 1975): Coolest music teacher on the planet! Memories include; her fake fireplace, learning to play the glockenspiel, in-depth study of The Who's Tommy, Beatlemania, playing albums backwards. My appreciation for music started in her classroom and continues to this day. Rock on Mrs. Rogers!

What a cool teacher indeed!
(My daughter just discovered "Tommy" the other evening - I watched the movie version on TV the other night and she's obsessed now. We fished out our vinyls of both versions and are in the process of digitizing them for her iPod.)
I was a Tommy fan. And I actually saw Beatlemania. She does sound like a fab(force) teacher.
My older brothers reminded me that American Pie was popular when they had her and they got to take the song apart line by line to learn its hidden meanings.
LO: That tradition lives on. Sunday night, visiting a friend in New Jersey, her 18-year-old daughter was doing exactly that, online.
Tommy? Beatlemania? Don McLean? Talk about bringing back memories! Loved all of them! Still do. And so do my kids! Music is my favorite thing in the world. All genres, literally. And like mom, my kids love just about everything. They don't like opera or classical but they will some day I am sure. Rock on!
Well guess what fellow 365er's...
Over the weekend I gave it loads and loads of thought...what will I do next? After this 365 blog ends for me on Feb 3?
and...(drum roll please)...
My new project will be the same as this prjoect but with music instead of people. There is always a tune in my head. Mrs. Rogers started this and I've kept it going. So why not honor all this music like I have people?
And maybe next year I'll do a 365 on places that shaped me.
Great idea!
I love it! Can I play too??
