Joey (63/365)

Joey: It's April so I imagine Joey's down at Leone Park sitting on the sea-wall; buckets and nets at the ready. It's Smelt season in Chicago! Eternally grateful for those smiling blue eyes and his guidance and tenderhearted presence during my painfully difficult exigence.

Buckets, nets, the smell of salt in the air. You've made me long for the ocean. One of these lives I'll come back as a fisherman.

Lovely, every word highlights what a calming presence Joey is. He sounds like a sweetheart.

Good one, Lisa.

I was just discussing smelting in a martini bar here in Portland last night. Two quarts the limit (smelt, not martinis)!

Every April evening when I was in college Joey and friends would smelt. We had a fire to keep us warm and to cook the smelt. As far I remember the only limit was time - hours were 7 pm until 1 am.
A martini bar! I don't think there is anything that sophisticated here in Charlotte.

And there's definitely not one where I actually LIVE, in Vermont. Back home now. Smelt round the fire sounds wonderful.
